Fancy driving your Mini through France, Switzerland and over the Alps into Italy to visit locations from the classic 1969 film The Italian Job? Super-fan Steve Edmonds leads a group of fellow Miniand movie buffs on this trip every year, and next month he’ll be sharing his knowledge with Mini Magazine. But first, he’s offering one lucky reader two places on this year’s tour for the price
of one.
This is not a race, but a tour at legal speed, the route taking in breathtaking sights, beautiful scenery and once-in-a-lifetime experiences. In Turin, you’ll see the major locations from the car chase, plus have a chance to enjoy the city’s shops, bars, restaurants and nightlife — and to drive your car on the rooftop test track at Lingotto.
You’ll meet Steve and the other cars at Dover on the evening of Tuesday, July 28, then take three days to drive to Turin. The weekend will be spent exploring the city, before taking another three days for the run back to England — arriving home in time for the IMM.
Film locations include:
■ The tunnel where the orange Miura crashes.
■ The amazing opening scenes filmed up the beautiful St Bernard Pass
■ The Church steps wedding scene, “Good Luck”
■ The weir
■ The robbery
■ The shopping arcade
■ The deleted ice rink scene
■ The handbrake turn on the wet floor
