Downton has long been one of the biggest names in the Mini's history, and over the weekend of the 21st of October a reunion of former Downton employees got everyone together again for the first time in over 30 years, since the Works closed.
Throughout the '60s there was a huge market for parts and kits for the Mini, but few companies had the reputation of Downton Engineering Works. The reunion event included a buffet meal and drinks at the sports club at Wick Lane in Downton on Saturday night, with over 50 original Downton employees and the partners taking part.
